Dr Chris McGrath is a Specialist Anaesthetist born and trained in Perth. He studied Medicine at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 2010. Dr McGrath undertook his Anaesthesia training in Perth and Melbourne, having completed Anaesthesia sub-specialty training in Obstetric Anaesthesia (King Edward Memorial Hospital), Trauma Anaesthesia (The Alfred, VIC) and Regional Orthopaedic Anaesthesia (Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital).

 

Dr Chris McGrath is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists obtaining his FANZCA in 2019. He currently holds a part time public appointment at Fiona Stanley Hospital and works in private practice at Precision Anaesthesia in Mosman Park.

 

He is trained as an Advanced Life Support Instructor and regularly leads training courses for medical staff in this discipline. Alongside other Continuing Professional Development, he maintains an up-to-date knowledge and a broad skill-set which allows him to provide you with expert medical care during your surgical journey. 

 

Dr Chris McGrath works at several private hospitals around Perth and can Anaesthetise for all surgical sub-specialties other than Cardiac Surgery. He has a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Orthopaedic, Spinal, Plastic and Cosmetic, Gynaecological and General Surgery disciplines. Through his sub-specialty training, Dr McGrath has advanced skills in Regional Anaesthesia for peri-operative pain management.

 

Dr Chris McGrath will always review your medical history pre-operatively to plan a safe Anaesthetic specific for you and your surgery. He will also call you prior to your day of surgery to answer any questions you may have. It is important that you complete the Precision Anaesthesia questionnaire and upload a current medical summary from your GP as an attachment to assist with planning. If you are to have significantly complex surgery or suffer with known complex medical issues, a consultation may be required in Dr McGrath’s rooms at Precision.

 

Dr Chris McGrath is a HBF preferred provider and this means that HBF patients will pay no additional out of pocket expenses for his Anaesthetic service on the day of surgery. All other health funds may incur an out-of-pocket expense. Dr McGrath aims to optimise the amount your health fund will contribute and the co-payment is proportional to the level of complexity and duration of surgery required. Dr Chris McGrath takes great pride in his work as an Anaesthetist and feels it is a privilege to care for you as his patient. Away from the hospital, he enjoys keeping fit at his local surf club where he also volunteers his time with water safety and patrols in summer. He also enjoys running, listening to music and playing Golf.
