Dr Ian Forsyth

Dr Ian Forsyth  BSc(Hons) MBChB  DA FANZCA

Dr Ian Forsyth is an experienced Anaesthetic consultant who works and teaches in the public sector at a tertiary level, as well as in the private sector. After completing his medical degree he specialized in Anaesthesia at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he received an ANZCA merit award for Achievement of Excellence in the final specialist examinations. After completing his Anaesthetic fellowship, he undertook an additional subspeciality fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Ian has worked in a variety of tertiary institutions in South Africa, England and New Zealand, and spent the last 14 years at the Perth Children’s Hospital (previously Princess Margaret Hospital) where he is currently a senior consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist. Ian has a long-term interest in complex airway management and airway reconstructive surgery in both children and adults. He is a reviewer for the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Journal, and is co-author of the ENT chapter in the “Your Guide to Paediatric Anaesthesia” textbook. In his spare time Ian enjoys outdoor pursuits, spending time with his family and chasing the ever-elusive balance of life; work and play.

Dr Forsyth will, in most cases, see you in the hospital prior to your surgery. Where there are significant complicated medical issues or in some instances with major surgery, he may schedule an appointment prior to your procedure.
