Dr Simon Papaelias

Dr Simon Papaelias was born in Perth and attended medical school at UWA, graduating with Honours. He completed his anaesthesia training in WA, receiving an ANZCA certificate of merit for his performance in the national anaesthesia primary examination. 

 

Dr Papaelias currently has a part time public appointment at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and a private practice at Precision Anaesthesia. He is involved in all areas of anaesthesia, with a particular interest in neurosurgical and spinal surgery anaesthesia, as well as plastic, ENT and orthopaedic surgeries. 

 

He is actively involved in teaching anaesthetic registrars through his role as a tutor in the primary examination tutorial programme. In addition, he has undertaken further postgraduate studies in echocardiography and clinical education. 

 

Dr Papaelias will always see and speak with you prior to your surgery. For the majority of patients, this will occur in hospital on the day of surgery. In certain circumstances, consultations may be required either in his room or via telephone/skype. If you have particular concerns and would like to see Dr Papaelias prior to surgery, please do not hesitate to contact his rooms.

 

After your Surgery Dr Papaelias is always happy to talk if you have any queries or concerns. He is contactable either through his rooms or via the hospital you had your procedure at.

 

Out of pocket expenses

Dr Simon Papaelias is an HBF preferred provider and this means no funding shortfall for a majority of procedures. All other health funds will incur an out of pocket expense. Please check with his rooms for quotes and other billing enquires.

 

Outside of work, Dr Papaelias is a married father of two daughters and enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys watching cricket and Formula 1.
