Dr Bheemasenachar Prasad is an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist with over 25 years of expertise in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, currently based in Perth, Western Australia.

Originally from India, Dr Prasad completed his medical degree and postgraduate training in Anaesthesia, followed by advanced fellowships in Cardiac and Neuro Anaesthesia at a premier national institute. 

In 1994, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he obtained fellowships in anaesthesia from the College of Surgeons of Ireland, FFARCSI (1995) and the Royal College of Anaesthetists, FRCA, UK (1996). In 2010, he was awarded foundation fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine, FICM, in London.

During his tenure of more than a decade as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in the UK, Dr Prasad developed subspecialty expertise in cardiothoracic and bariatric perioperative care. He also served as Head of a tertiary Intensive Care Unit for five years. His clinical service was recognised with excellence awards from the National Health Service.

In 2012, Dr Prasad relocated to Perth, Australia, to reunite with his family. He attained fellowship in Anaesthesia (FANZCA) in 2013 and in Intensive Care (FCICM) in 2016. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Intensive Care Unit at Rockingham General Hospital, serving as its founding Head of Service, and later as Medical Co-Director for four years.

Dr Prasad currently provides anaesthesia services for bariatric, neurosurgical, spinal and vascular surgeries. His dual expertise in anaesthesia and intensive care enables him to provide safe and comprehensive perioperative care. 

A passionate educator, Dr Prasad is dedicated to mentoring junior doctors and sharing the skills he has developed over his extensive career. He has a particular interest in teaching bedside ultrasound of the heart and other organs to improve the management of critically unwell patients.

Outside of medicine, Dr Prasad enjoys playing cricket, hiking, and listening to Bollywood music.
